Radio - regulatory bodies
Regulatory bodies:
A regulatory body keeps order within their own sectors. They impose requirements, restrictions and conditions, and set standards in relation to any activity and enforcement. Regulatory bodies are used to protect the public.
An example of a regulatory body is Ofcom. Ofcom considers all complaints about programmes transmitted by all broadcasters licensed in the UK against the Broadcasting Code, but complaints about accuracy and impartiality in BBC television and radio programmes are dealt with by the BBC Trust.
The function of a regulatory body is to implement and enforce specific laws. This is set up by the government.
